As the Youth Week football tournament shifts into high gear, the CYON Sports Committee has officially released the match-day regulations that will govern the Quarter Final fixtures this Sunday. With elimination on the line and tensions set to rise, these rules are designed to keep the competition fair, disciplined, and worthy of the occasion.
All qualifying zones are hereby directed to take note of the following:
1️⃣ Player Documentation All zones that have qualified for the Quarter Finals must resubmit updated player photographs. Any final roster changes should be completed and submitted no later than Wednesday. Late submissions will not be entertained.
2️⃣ Card Penalties Discipline will be non-negotiable. Any foul resulting in a yellow card will attract a fine of ₦500, while a red card offence will carry a fine of ₦2,000 — both payable by the offending zone.
3️⃣ Offside Rule Any goal scored from an offside position will be disallowed. No appeals. No exceptions.
4️⃣ Outstanding Fines Zones with unpaid fines from fouls committed in earlier rounds are required to settle all outstanding balances before their next fixture. Non-compliance may affect a zone's eligibility to compete.
5️⃣ Player Verification A mandatory player screening will be conducted before each Quarter Final match. No zone will be permitted to take the pitch until the verification exercise has been completed and cleared.
6️⃣ Touchline Conduct Coaches and team officials are expected to maintain order and composure at all times. Any individual found in breach of these regulations will be liable to pay a fine as determined by the committee.
⚽ The message from the committee is clear: play hard, play fair, and play by the rules.
With the stakes higher than ever and glory within reach, the committee is calling on all zones — players, coaches, and supporters — to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship as the competition enters its most thrilling chapter yet.
✝️ "For God and for the Youths — Through Christ."
The Youth Week Committee thanks all participating zones for their dedication and cooperation throughout the tournament, and wishes every team the very best in the Quarter Finals.
